About VSB Academy

VSB Academy is a VTCT (UK) approved training centre in Sungai Buloh, Shah Alam, set up in 2022. It runs a 16-month Level 2 Diploma in Professional Cookery, a UK qualification. Students spend their first two months on kitchen fundamentals, then move into industry placement with partner F&B businesses until they finish.

The academy is built for young people who want a kitchen career but don't fit the usual academic route. It asks for no formal qualifications, takes students from age 17, and especially encourages applicants from B40 communities. New intakes open every month.

Who the website is for

Young people and school leavers

They want to know what they will learn, how long it takes and whether they qualify. The site answers all three before they apply.

Parents and guardians

Many parents want to see the kitchen and meet the instructors first. The site gives them visiting hours, a map and a way to book a visit.

Industry partners

F&B operators, NGOs and companies can ask about placements, sponsorship or CSR work through their own enquiry option.

Home page

Opens with the kitchen, then makes the case for the course

The home page leads with a full-width photo of students cooking and a short promise. A scrolling strip repeats the key facts, then the page explains the gap the academy fills in Malaysia's F&B industry before it introduces the programme.

  • Full-width kitchen photo with the main call to action
  • A scrolling strip of key programme facts
  • Sections on the industry gap and the programme, with links to graduate stories

The Programme page walks through the course in order: the three stages of the diploma, then all 11 modules, from kitchen safety and food hygiene to breadmaking, desserts and teamwork. Entry requirements sit in one clear block so applicants can check whether they qualify.

  • The three stages: fundamentals, industry placement, diploma
  • Eleven modules, each with a one-line summary
  • Age, education, language, commitment and intake in one block

Design choices

Photography

Kitchen photos of students in VSB chef whites, rather than generic stock images.

Type

An elegant serif headline font in gold and cream on dark backgrounds, for a premium, hotel-kitchen feel.

Colour

Charcoal, cream and gold, carried through both the English and BM versions.

Why we built it this way

Choosing a diploma is rarely the student's decision alone. Parents want to visit the kitchen, and employers want to hear about placements. Giving each group its own path means nobody reads a generic page meant for someone else. The Bahasa Malaysia version lets families read about the programme in the language they are most comfortable with.
