TL;DR: This free website health check runs Google’s own PageSpeed test on any page and reads the result for you in plain English. You get a score out of 100, your Core Web Vitals, the mobile setup checks, HTTPS and the basic SEO tags, plus a short list of what to fix first. No sign-up, no email.

How we check this

The test runs on Google PageSpeed Insights, the free tool that shows Google's real-visitor data and its lab test side by side. Your web address is sent to Google to run it; nothing else is sent and nothing is stored. The health score is the average of Google's four scores: Performance, Accessibility, Best Practices and SEO.

We judge speed on Google's Core Web Vitals lines: LCP under 2.5 seconds, INP under 200 milliseconds and CLS under 0.1. Real-visitor data is used where Google has it; otherwise we use the lab test. Lab scores can swing 10 to 15 points between runs, so run it three times and take the middle result. The comparisons come from Malaysian SME sites audited by ZenWeb, 2024 to 2026, in our guide to free website speed test tools. The mobile checks follow our guide to text too small on mobile. This is an estimate, not a full audit.

Most free checkers hand you one big number and twenty-odd red items, and nobody knows which three matter. This free website health check sorts the result into speed, mobile, security and SEO basics, compares it with Malaysian SME sites the ZenWeb team has audited, and lists the fixes in the order we would do them.

1. How does this free website health check work?

Quick Answer: Type the page address into the free website health check, choose mobile or desktop and press Check my site. The tool sends the address to Google PageSpeed Insights, waits for the test, then shows your health score, your Core Web Vitals and a pass or fail for each mobile, security and SEO check. The test takes up to a minute.

  1. Pick the page that matters. Your busiest landing page tells you more than the home page.
  2. Test on mobile first. Most Malaysian visitors are on a phone, and that is where sites fail.
  3. Tell us how the site was built. Optional. We compare your speed with similar sites.
  4. Read the fix list. The first item is the one to do first.
  5. Run it three times. Go by the middle result, not the best or the worst.

2. What does your website health score mean?

Quick Answer: The health score is the average of Google’s four scores: Performance, Accessibility, Best Practices and SEO. Each sits in a colour band: 0 to 49 red, 50 to 89 amber, 90 to 100 green. The band your mobile speed score lands in matters more than the exact number.

90–100 (green)47%2.6%+0.3 pts enquiry rate

Leaving the red band pays about three times what the move into green does, so get out of red before you chase 100. Speed is judged on Google’s Core Web Vitals: LCP under 2.5 seconds, INP under 200 milliseconds and CLS under 0.1. The tool uses Google’s real-visitor data where it exists and the lab test where it doesn’t.

Key takeaway: Your band matters more than your number. A mobile score of 70 with passing Core Web Vitals is a healthier site than a 95 with a slow LCP.

3. How do you check if your website is mobile friendly?

Quick Answer: Run the mobile test and look at the Mobile group. It checks that the page has a viewport tag, that visitors can pinch to zoom, and, where Google reports it, that the text is big enough to read. Then open the page on a real phone and read one full paragraph at arm’s length.

These are the checks behind most of the small-text jobs we fix, from our guide to website text too small on mobile:

  • Viewport tag: without it, phones shrink the desktop layout and every word with it. A missing or broken tag is behind 22% of the cases we see.
  • Zoom left on: user-scalable=no or maximum-scale=1 traps anyone who needs bigger text.
  • Base text size: aim for 16px. Google’s Chrome team flags text under 12px as hard to read on phones.
  • Secure connection: the page should load on HTTPS.

Key takeaway: A page that looks fine on your office screen can still fail every phone. The mobile checks catch the one-line settings that cause it.

Stuck in the red band?

Most of the time it is three fixable things, not thirty.

4. What should you fix first after a website health check?

Quick Answer: Fix the mobile setup first, because a missing viewport tag breaks every page at once. Then work on the slowest Core Web Vital. On the sites we audit, an oversized hero image is the most common cause of a slow LCP. Change one thing, retest, then move on.

How the site was built sets the ceiling. Median mobile LCP at first audit runs from 2.7 seconds on custom-coded sites to 5.4 seconds on WooCommerce shops. Only 35% of the Malaysian SME sites we audited passed all three Core Web Vitals on mobile in the first half of 2026, so passing puts you ahead of most local competitors.

Our guides on a site that loads slowly on mobile, images that are too heavy and failing Core Web Vitals walk through each fix.

5. Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is this website health check really free?

Yes, with no sign-up or email. Only the page address goes to Google PageSpeed Insights to run the test, and we store nothing.

2. Why does my score change every time I test?

Lab tests run on shared machines, so a swing of 10 to 15 points between runs is normal. Run it three times and go by the middle result.

3. What is a good website health score?

90 to 100 is the green band. On mobile, getting out of red (under 50) matters most, and passing all three Core Web Vitals counts for more than the headline number.

4. Is this the same as a full website audit?

No. It checks one page for speed, mobile setup, HTTPS and basic SEO tags. It can’t tell you whether a slow page is costing you enquiries or which fix is worth paying for.
