A homeowner sends a photo of a cracked sliding door and asks for a price. You cannot give one. The panel could be 5mm clear or 10mm tempered, the track common or discontinued, and the frame may need replacing with the glass.
Closing that gap is what paid search has to do for a glazing business. This guide covers Google Ads for glass contractors across the trade: shower screens, sliding and folding doors, aluminium windows, balcony glass, shopfronts, partitions and emergency repair.
ZenWeb runs Google Ads for renovation and fabrication trades inside a client base of 500+ Malaysian accounts. Glass and aluminium accounts share one pattern: the winners spend less per click than their rivals and far more effort on making the first reply quotable.

Malaysia had 35.4 million internet users in October 2025, a 98.0% penetration rate, per DataReportal. Every cracked panel and every new shopfront starts on a phone. The video below covers the account mechanics before we get into the glazing specifics.

Quick Answer: A glass buyer knows the opening she wants covered, not the specification that prices it. Thickness, frame system, track type and hardware decide the number. If your ad and landing page do not collect those details, the click becomes a photo in your WhatsApp and never becomes a quote.
An aircon customer says “three units”. A glass customer says “my balcony, the sliding one”.
That sentence cannot be priced. A 2.4m by 2.1m balcony slider in 8mm tempered with a heavy-duty track is a different job from the same opening in 5mm clear on a standard profile, and the two quotes can differ by RM 3,000. The enquiry then sits in your phone for three days while you ask questions, and by then she has three other prices.
Paid search only makes money for a glazing business when the account shortens that loop. Every decision below, from keyword selection to the fields on the form, exists to get width, height, thickness and a photo into your hands at the moment of the click.
Quick Answer: Repair clicks are the cheapest at around RM 3.40 and enquire at 11.2%, which puts a repair enquiry at roughly RM 30. Commercial shopfront clicks cost nearly three times as much and enquire at 4.1%, but the jobs behind them average RM 34,000.
| Search cluster | Avg CPC | Click to enquiry | Cost per enquiry | Avg signed job |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Emergency and repair (broken panel, roller, track) | RM 3.40 | 11.2% | RM 30 | RM 1,450 |
| Shower screen and price terms | RM 4.80 | 7.8% | RM 62 | RM 3,200 |
| Sliding and folding door plus harga | RM 6.20 | 6.4% | RM 97 | RM 7,600 |
| Aluminium window supplier (generic) | RM 5.10 | 3.2% | RM 159 | RM 9,800 |
| Commercial shopfront and partition | RM 9.50 | 4.1% | RM 232 | RM 34,000 |
| Design and inspiration | RM 2.60 | 1.1% | RM 236 | RM 4,100 |

Two rows deserve a second look. Design keywords look cheap at RM 2.60 and produce the most expensive enquiries, because almost nobody browsing door designs is ready to buy. Commercial shopfront keywords look frightening at RM 9.50 and are the best value on the sheet.
If your click costs sit well above these bands, our breakdown of Google Ads CPC by industry in Malaysia and the wider cost of Google Ads in Malaysia will tell you whether the problem is your auction or your account.
Quick Answer: Split campaigns by product system, not by “residential” and “commercial”. One campaign each for repair, shower screens, doors and windows, and commercial glazing, so a RM 34,000 partition enquiry never has to compete with a RM 600 roller change for the same budget.
Most glazing accounts we take over have one campaign called Glass with forty keywords in a single ad group. Everything shares a budget, so the cheapest clicks eat it first and repair terms quietly starve the door campaign. The structure that works follows how you actually quote:
Give each campaign its own budget and its own landing page. Our sibling guide to SEO for glass contractors explains how the same split carries across your organic pages.
Quick Answer: Repair searches produce enquiries at about RM 30 each, roughly a fifth of the cost of a generic window search. The jobs are small, but they are same-week, they need no design decision, and those households come back for full replacements later.
A cracked shower panel or a slider that will not roll is urgent. The searcher wants someone who answers, not the nicest gallery, and that urgency is why the cluster converts at 11.2%.
Three things make repair campaigns work. Run a call asset and a mobile call-only ad, because a repair customer would rather talk than type. Set a schedule that matches when someone actually picks up. And keep the radius tight, because a RM 450 roller job three towns away loses money on travel.
Contractors dismiss repair as too small to advertise. They are pricing the job, not the customer: the household that watched you fix a track calls you first when the balcony gets enclosed.
Quick Answer: Shower screen and door searches almost always carry price intent, often in Malay. Publish a per-panel band on the landing page. Contractors who show a range get more enquiries, not fewer, because the price-only shoppers filter themselves out before they cost you a reply.
These clusters take most residential budget, at RM 4.80 to RM 6.20 a click. A shower screen enquiry costs about RM 62 and a door enquiry about RM 97, against average jobs of RM 3,200 and RM 7,600. The maths is comfortable as long as the enquiries are quotable.
The mistake is hiding the price. A contractor who states “8mm tempered frameless shower screens from RM 1,450 for a standard 900mm by 1,900mm opening, subject to site measurement” spends the same money and wastes far fewer replies.
Malay terms matter here too. Harga, pintu gelangsar, cermin bilik air and tingkap aluminium all carry buying intent, and their auctions are usually thinner than the English equivalents.
Quick Answer: Commercial glazing clicks cost about RM 9.50 and convert at 4.1%, so an enquiry runs near RM 232 against an average job of RM 34,000. Since 1 July 2025 non-residential construction work carries 6% service tax once taxable turnover passes RM 1.5 million, so commercial buyers now ask about tax at the quote stage.
Most glazing contractors under-advertise here because the click price scares them. One shopfront job at RM 34,000 covers roughly 3,500 clicks.
Commercial buyers also search differently: in office hours, often from a desktop, in specification language such as 12mm tempered frameless entrance or double-glazed office partition. They want your CIDB grade, SSM details, project references and a lead time before they want a price.
Tax is now part of that conversation. Under the expanded service tax on construction work published by Malaysia’s Royal Customs Department, contractors whose taxable construction services exceed RM 1.5 million in twelve months charge 6% on non-residential work. If you are registered, say so on the landing page and state whether your figures include tax. Buyers comparing three quotes assume the cheapest already does, and you lose the job to a rounding difference.
Quick Answer: Design and inspiration traffic is the single biggest leak in a glazing account, converting at 1.1% and costing RM 236 an enquiry. A negative list built around design, DIY, supply-only, education and job-seeking terms typically returns a fifth of the budget within a month.
Glass terms overlap with a huge amount of non-buying search. The wasters we add on day one:
Car windscreen deserves its own mention. Tukar cermin kereta and tukar cermin rumah share a root in Malay, and a glazing account without that negative pays for windscreen clicks all month. Our guide to negative keywords in Google Ads covers the search-terms routine that catches them.
Quick Answer: Write ads that ask for the measurement and state one price anchor. A responsive search ad takes 15 headlines and 4 descriptions, so give the system room, but pin one headline that names the product and one that asks for the size.
Generic glazing ads all read the same: quality workmanship, free quote, call now. They win a click from someone who asks “how much” and disappears. Ads that pre-qualify read differently: “Frameless Shower Screen From RM 1,450”, “Send Us Two Measurements For A Same-Day Price”, “8mm And 10mm Tempered, 5-Year Hardware Warranty”, “Site Measurement Within 48 Hours, Klang Valley”.
Google recommends filling every asset type in a responsive search ad, including a business logo and name, which its own data links to about 8% more conversions. Add location assets so the searcher sees you are twenty minutes away, and structured snippets listing your systems: shower screens, sliding doors, shopfronts, partitions.
Quick Answer: Send every campaign to a page about its own product, with a form that asks for opening width, opening height, floor level and a photo. That single form change is the difference between a photo you cannot price and a quote you can send the same afternoon.
Most glazing sites point every ad at the home page, where the visitor meets a gallery and a phone number, sends a photo, and drifts away while you ask for measurements.
The page that converts carries five things: the product and its thickness options, a price band with what it covers, photos of that exact product, your coverage areas and lead time, and a form with a photo upload. Ask for floor level too, because a 14th-floor balcony changes the hoisting cost.
Keep the form to five fields. Every extra field on a mobile quote form costs enquiries. Our guide to Google Ads landing pages covers the layout details.
Quick Answer: Start on maximise clicks with a firm CPC ceiling while you gather data, then switch to maximise conversions once the account records around 30 enquiries in a month. Target CPA only makes sense after that, using a target near your current cost per enquiry, not the one you wish you had.
Smart bidding needs examples, and a RM 1,200 account produces only about 15 enquiries a month, too few to learn from. The sequence we use: four to six weeks on maximise clicks with a CPC cap around RM 7 residential and RM 12 commercial, then maximise conversions once tracking is clean, then a target near your actual cost per enquiry. Move that target in 15% steps, never in half.
One caution on Performance Max. It will find cheap conversions, and many will be design browsers and supply-only enquiries. Run it alongside search, feed it a strong negative list, and judge it on signed jobs.
Quick Answer: A solo installer needs about RM 1,200 a month to see a pattern, and lands roughly four jobs at RM 300 each in ad cost. A fabricator with a commercial division spends around RM 12,000 and pays RM 444 per signed job, but the jobs behind those clicks are worth many times more.
| Business size | Monthly ad spend | Clicks | Enquiries | Signed jobs | Cost per signed job |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Solo installer, one van | RM 1,200 | 215 | 15 | 4 | RM 300 |
| Workshop with two crews | RM 3,000 | 520 | 38 | 11 | RM 273 |
| Fabricator with showroom | RM 6,500 | 1,080 | 74 | 21 | RM 310 |
| Fabricator with commercial division | RM 12,000 | 1,760 | 108 | 27 | RM 444 |

Cost per signed job barely moves between RM 1,200 and RM 6,500 a month. What changes is volume and the mix of work. The commercial tier pays most per job because shopfront clicks cost more and the sales cycle is longer, but its average job value is roughly five times the residential tier.
Below about RM 1,000 a month a glazing account cannot gather enough data to optimise. If that is your ceiling, put it into repair keywords in one township rather than spreading it across the Klang Valley. Our guide to the monthly Google Ads budget for an SME follows the same logic.
Quick Answer: Two peaks drive the year. Renovation demand runs hot in January and February before Chinese New Year, and repair demand spikes through the November to December monsoon, when nearly half of all enquiries are damage-related and enquiries cost about RM 67.
| Period | Demand index | Cost per enquiry | Repair share of enquiries |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jan-Feb (pre-CNY renovation rush) | 116 | RM 78 | 22% |
| Mar-Apr (post-festive lull) | 85 | RM 95 | 27% |
| May-Jun (Raya and school holidays) | 103 | RM 84 | 24% |
| Jul-Aug (commercial fit-out season) | 92 | RM 91 | 29% |
| Sep-Oct (year-end renovation push) | 99 | RM 86 | 31% |
| Nov-Dec (monsoon damage, install slowdown) | 110 | RM 67 | 47% |
Source: ZenWeb client tracking, Malaysia, 2024-2026.
Most contractors handle the monsoon badly. Installation slows, so they cut the budget exactly when enquiries are cheapest at RM 67 and repair is 47% of the total. The right move is not less budget but a different campaign: shift spend from door and window terms into storm damage, leaking window and same-day replacement.
March and April are the genuine quiet stretch, demand at 85 and enquiries at RM 95. Build pages and gather reviews then, rather than bidding harder.
Quick Answer: Three quarters of glazing clicks come from a phone, and the cheapest enquiries come through the call asset at RM 34. Desktop traffic is only 11% of clicks and the most expensive at RM 179, but it carries the commercial jobs that average RM 21,000.
| Entry point | Share of clicks | Click to enquiry | Cost per enquiry | Avg signed job |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mobile call asset or call-only ad | 21% | 12.4% | RM 34 | RM 1,900 |
| Mobile search to WhatsApp | 37% | 8.6% | RM 58 | RM 4,300 |
| Mobile search to quote form with photo upload | 16% | 5.9% | RM 88 | RM 6,700 |
| Desktop search to form, office hours | 11% | 4.4% | RM 179 | RM 21,000 |
| Performance Max, all placements | 15% | 2.7% | RM 121 | RM 3,800 |

Read the last column before cutting the expensive rows. A desktop enquiry costs five times a call and is worth eleven times as much. Cutting desktop bids to protect an average cost-per-lead figure is how a glazing account loses its best work.
WhatsApp carries the largest share, and that is where most accounts lose the measurement. A click-to-WhatsApp conversion tells you a chat started, not that anyone sent a size. Tag the chat when a site visit is booked and the RM 58 figure becomes a number you can bid against.
Quick Answer: Count measured site visits, not chats. A glazing job runs from click to enquiry to measurement to quote to deposit, often over six weeks, so import the signed job back into Google Ads and let bidding learn from deposits instead of button taps.
The default setup counts a WhatsApp click as a conversion, so Google optimises for taps, which in glazing means design browsers asking for a price on a photo.
The fix has three parts. Track calls, forms and WhatsApp clicks separately so you know which entry point produced what, as covered in our guide to Google Ads conversion tracking. Record in your job sheet which enquiries reached a measured site visit. Then push signed jobs back into the account through offline lead conversion import, so bidding follows deposits rather than clicks.
Quick Answer: The recurring five: bidding on design terms, sending every ad to the home page, hiding prices, cutting budget during the monsoon, and judging the account on cost per chat instead of cost per measured site visit.
A sixth deserves naming. Contractors pause campaigns the moment the workshop is full, then restart when it empties. Every restart resets the learning period and the first fortnight back costs more per enquiry. Reduce the daily budget or narrow the radius instead.
A seventh is running ads before the site is ready. If your product pages carry no prices, measurements or lead times, paid clicks only speed up how fast you find out. Our sibling guide to digital marketing for glass and aluminium contractors covers that groundwork, and our look at Google Ads and SEO returns compares the channels over a year.
Quick Answer: Google Ads for glass contractors comes down to three moves: separate repair, residential systems and commercial glazing into their own campaigns; make the ad and landing page collect the opening size; and measure signed jobs rather than chats.
The glazing companies winning paid search here rarely have the widest product range or the biggest budget. Their ads name a product and a price band, their forms ask for two measurements and a photo, and their reporting can say what a measured site visit cost last month. Start with repair because it is cheapest to learn on, add shower screens and doors once tracking is clean, then open the commercial campaign.
About RM 1,200 a month is the practical floor for a solo installer, producing roughly 15 enquiries and four signed jobs in ZenWeb client tracking. A workshop with two crews does better at around RM 3,000, at about RM 273 per signed job.
Yes. Repair clicks cost about RM 3.40 and convert at 11.2%, so an enquiry costs roughly RM 30, the cheapest in the trade. The jobs average RM 1,450 and those households return for full replacements.
Only alongside search, never instead of it. It produces about 15% of clicks in glazing accounts at RM 121 an enquiry, but the average signed job is RM 3,800, below what search delivers, so it needs a firm negative list.
Comfortably. Those enquiries cost around RM 232 against an average signed job of RM 34,000. Bear in mind non-residential construction work has carried 6% service tax since 1 July 2025 once taxable turnover passes RM 1.5 million, so quote tax clearly.
