Raya Google Shopping Ads: Prep Your Product Feed in Time
TL;DR: Raya Google Shopping Ads run on your Merchant Center feed, so the feed is your real deadline. Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2027 is expected on 10–11 March, with Ramadan starting around 8 February, right after Chinese New Year. Fix titles, images and GTINs by mid-January, load Raya sale prices with Malaysia time zone dates, label products by courier cut-off, and switch availability the day delivery closes.

Most Malaysian online sellers plan Raya ads in January. The ones who win on Google Shopping did their real work earlier, in the product feed. Shopping ads have no headlines to write: Google builds each ad from your title, image, price and availability. If those are wrong or still under review, no bid will save the campaign.

This guide from ZenWeb, a Google Partner agency with 500+ Malaysian clients, sets out the feed calendar for Raya 2027: which fields to fix, how to schedule sale prices and what to do at the courier cut-off. New to Shopping? Start with our Google Shopping Ads Malaysia guide, then come back here for the Raya timing.

1. When Should You Start Preparing Raya Google Shopping Ads?

Quick Answer: Start your Raya Google Shopping Ads feed work in December 2026 and finish it by mid-January 2027. Chinese New Year falls on 6–7 February and Ramadan is expected to begin around 8 February, so there is almost no quiet week in between. Every Raya product should be approved and labelled before CNY week.

The feed takes longer than the campaign. New products and big edits go through Google review, and if one is disapproved, Google says a requested review may take up to 7 business days to complete. One rejected image in late February can cost you Ramadan’s best week. Work backwards:

Because CNY and Ramadan collide in 2027, you also need one plan for both budgets. Our guide to one ad budget for CNY and Ramadan 2027 covers the split, and Raya payday timing explains why late February matters so much.

Key takeaway: For Shopping, the feed deadline comes six to eight weeks before Raya. Treat 15 January as your real launch date, even though the ads switch on in February.

2. Which Product Feed Fixes Matter Most Before Raya?

Quick Answer: Fix the fields that decide whether a product shows and gets clicked: title, image, GTIN or brand, colour and size, and price. Put the words Raya shoppers actually type, like “baju kurung moden” or “kuih raya”, near the start of the title. Clear every disapproval before Ramadan begins.

Here is how we rank the work for a typical Malaysian online store:

Most pre-Raya disapprovals we see come from barcodes, images and shipping. Our fix guides cover each: missing GTIN errors, rejected product images and missing shipping settings. For title formulas that lift clicks, see Google Shopping feed optimisation.

A note on images and culture. Raya fashion buyers expect modest styling, so show baju kurung and baju Melayu as they are worn, on a model or a clean flat-lay. Keep religious symbols, mosques and Quranic text out of product images used to sell discounts. Ketupat or pelita props belong in lifestyle images, not the main product photo.

Key takeaway: Titles and images win the click, but GTINs and shipping decide whether the product shows at all. Clear disapprovals first, then polish titles.

3. How to Set Up Raya Sale Prices and Custom Labels

Quick Answer: Add a sale price with a sale price effective date so Raya discounts start and stop on their own, using the Malaysia time zone (+0800). Then use custom labels to tag Raya products, delivery groups and margin bands. This lets you bid, split and pause whole groups of products in one move.

Most holiday feed guides stop at “add a sale price”. For Raya in Malaysia, two details catch stores out: the time zone and East Malaysia delivery. Set up all five steps below in late January, then leave them alone:

  1. Keep the normal price in the price field. Your regular price stays in price; the Raya price goes in sale_price. This lets Google show the discount against the original.
  2. Add start and end dates in Malaysia time. Google’s sale price effective date attribute takes a start and end with a time zone, and if you leave the time zone out, Google defaults to UTC. That is eight hours behind Malaysia. A safe value looks like 2027-02-15T00:00+0800/2027-03-09T23:59+0800.
  3. Tag Raya products with a custom label. Google lets you create up to five custom labels, custom label 0 to 4. Use one for season (raya_2027), one for delivery group, one for margin.
  4. Use a supplemental source for Raya-only changes. A supplemental data source updates details on existing products but cannot add or remove products. That makes it a clean place for Raya titles and labels you will undo after Syawal.
  5. Split campaigns or listing groups by label. Hero Raya items get their own budget, so slow sellers cannot eat it.

Delivery-group labels are the part most stores skip. Tag items “ships_west”, “ships_east” or “pickup_only”, so when the Sabah and Sarawak cut-off passes first, you lower one group only. If you run Performance Max, the same labels feed your festive Performance Max asset groups.

Key takeaway: Dated sale prices and custom labels turn Raya from daily manual edits into a schedule. Always add +0800, or your sale may start at 8 am instead of midnight.

4. How Much Do Raya Google Shopping Ads Cost?

Quick Answer: In ZenWeb-managed Malaysian accounts, Raya Google Shopping Ads clicks typically cost 15–50% more in the last ten days of Ramadan than in a normal week, with fashion and kuih raya at the top. Many small stores spend RM 3,000–15,000 on Shopping across Ramadan. These are estimates, not quotes.

How to size your Raya Shopping budget:

New to Shopping? Budget for a one-off feed build too (see our Google Ads setup fee guide). The logic is the same as sale-week budgeting for 11.11.

Key takeaway: Raya Shopping clicks cost more where products look alike. A strong feed lowers your cost per sale even when the cost per click goes up.

5. What Should Your Feed Do After the Courier Cut-off?

Quick Answer: After your courier cut-off, stop paying for Shopping clicks that cannot arrive before Raya. Lower bids on the shipped delivery group, update transit times, and push pick-up or e-voucher items instead. Mark sold-out items out of stock the same day so you do not pay for clicks on products you cannot sell.

Your cut-off depends on your courier and on Peninsular versus East Malaysia, and Sabah and Sarawak usually close first. Announce it clearly on site with our festive delivery cut-off guide, then work through this list:

  • Lower bids on the passed delivery group. Use the “ships_east” or “ships_west” label to cut one group without touching the other.
  • Update transit times in shipping settings, so you do not take orders you will refund later.
  • Keep availability accurate. Set sold-out items to out of stock. Our guide to pausing ads when festive stock sells out covers the rules.
  • Promote what still works. Store pick-up, local delivery and e-vouchers can keep selling up to Raya eve.
  • Follow shoppers home. Balik kampung week moves searches from cities to hometowns; see balik kampung ad targeting.
  • Plan enquiry cover. Late buyers ask “sempat sampai?” on WhatsApp; see our Raya customer service plan.

Mistakes here repeat every year; see Hari Raya ad mistakes Malaysian SMEs repeat.

Key takeaway: The cut-off is a feed event, not just a bid event. Change labels, transit times and availability the same day, and move budget to items that can still reach buyers.

6. How Do Shopping Ads Fit With Your Other Raya Channels?

Quick Answer: Shopping ads catch shoppers who already know what they want. Social and video ads create that demand earlier in Ramadan, and your website and WhatsApp close the sale. Use the same product feed across channels so prices, stock and Raya offers match everywhere a shopper sees them.

Each channel has a different job across Ramadan:

ChannelRaya job alongside Shopping
TikTok and Meta AdsShow new collections early in Ramadan. Ideas in our Raya TikTok Ads guide.
YouTubeBrand story during the fasting month; see Raya video ads on an SME budget.
CreatorsTry-on and unboxing content that sends searches to your products; see our Raya influencer campaign guide.
SEO and product pagesKeep one Raya collection page at the same URL every year; see Ramadan SEO keywords.
WhatsApp and emailLast-call reminders to past buyers before the cut-off, cheaper than any click.

Update product pages and the feed together, as Google checks that price and availability match. Greetings like “Selamat Hari Raya” fit best late in Ramadan and in Syawal; our Ramadan ad sensitivity guide covers tone and imagery.

Key takeaway: Social and video build Raya demand; Shopping harvests it. One clean feed and matching product pages keep every channel telling the same story.

7. Does Early Feed Prep Pay Off? How to Measure Raya Shopping Results

Quick Answer: Yes. In the illustrative scenario below, a store with its feed approved by mid-January earns more delivered revenue from the same budget than one still fixing disapprovals in late February. Measure delivered revenue, return on ad spend and the share of Raya products actually serving, against last Ramadan.

A modelled example: a baju raya store with 120 Raya products, RM 12,000 Shopping spend (8 February–9 March 2027) and a RM 160 average order.

Track these after Raya:

  • Share of Raya products serving. Check diagnostics weekly; under 90% means feed work is still due.
  • Delivered revenue and return on ad spend, not raw orders. Refunded late orders are not wins.
  • Performance by custom label. Which delivery group and margin band earned the most per ringgit?
  • Accurate conversion data. See our conversion tracking setup guide.
  • The Syawal tail. Our Syawal sales slump guide covers winning buyers back.

Raya Shopping feed checklist:

  • Hero Raya products listed and stock confirmed by early December
  • Images, GTINs and shipping settings fixed by 31 December
  • All Raya products approved, titles rewritten and labels set by 15 January
  • Sale prices scheduled with +0800 dates by late January
  • Peninsular and East Malaysia cut-off dates in the team calendar
  • Pick-up or e-voucher items ready for after the cut-off
  • Syawal prices and offers loaded for Raya Day
Key takeaway: The same budget earns more when every Raya product is live from day one. Measure the share of products serving as closely as you measure return on ad spend.

8. Conclusion

Raya Google Shopping Ads are won in the feed, weeks before the ads go live. Fix images, barcodes and shipping by December, finish titles and labels by 15 January, schedule sale prices in Malaysia time, then switch delivery groups as each cut-off passes. The same feed-first habit pays off at every peak, from Christmas final-week bidding to Raya. 9. Frequently Asked Questions

1. When should I prepare my Google Shopping feed for Raya 2027?

Start in December 2026 and have every Raya product approved by mid-January 2027. Chinese New Year falls on 6–7 February and Ramadan is expected to begin around 8 February, so there is little time to fix problems later.

2. How long does Merchant Center take to review products?

New and edited products are reviewed before they can show. If an item is disapproved and you request a review, Google says it may take up to 7 business days, so leave a buffer before Ramadan.

3. How do I schedule a Raya sale price in Merchant Center?

Keep the normal price in the price field and put the Raya price in the sale price field. Then add a sale price effective date with a start, an end and the +0800 time zone. Without a time zone, Google uses UTC.

4. Should I stop Google Shopping Ads after the courier cut-off?

Lower bids on products that can no longer arrive before Raya, rather than stopping everything. Keep pick-up, local delivery and e-voucher items running, and mark sold-out products out of stock.

5. Do Google Shopping clicks cost more during Raya?

Yes, mostly in the last ten days of Ramadan. In ZenWeb-managed Malaysian accounts, fashion and kuih raya clicks typically cost 25–50% more than a normal week. These are estimates.
