Your real commission depends on category, Mall status and seller age, and new local sellers may still be in a waiver period. Instalment and pay-later orders carry a higher transaction fee.
An estimate from ZenWeb's mid-band fee model. Your own Seller Centre rates decide the real figure.
Most sellers know their commission rate, yet few can say what lands in the bank on a RM 39 order. Commission is only one of four fee lines, and service tax sits on each. The calculator puts the whole stack on one screen, using the RM 100 order priced in our guide to Shopee and Lazada seller fees in Malaysia.
The video below explains how both platforms set commission.

1. How do you use the Shopee Lazada fee calculator?
Quick Answer: Pick Shopee, Lazada or both, enter the price the buyer pays and choose your category. Say whether you run ads and whether you joined Shopee’s free-shipping programme. Add your unit cost and your own commission rate if you know them. Every fee line, your take-home and your profit update as you type.
Keep one recent order and Seller Centre open.
- Choose the marketplace. Compare both to see one order side by side.
- Enter the selling price. Use the price after your own vouchers; commission is charged on that.
- Pick your category. It sets the ad cost per order, from RM 5.20 (home and living) to RM 11.80 (electronics).
- Say whether you run ads. Pick “No ads” for organic orders.
- Set the free-shipping programme. Shopee only; Lazada folds it into commission.
- Add your unit cost. Optional; it turns take-home into profit.
- Type your own commission rate. Optional, before tax; the calculator adds the 8%.

Quick Answer: Take-home is what is left from the price after platform fees and ads, before your product and packing cost. On a RM 100 order with typical ads, Shopee leaves RM 73.48 and Lazada RM 78.88. Shopee looks cheaper on commission but adds a separate free-shipping line.
Here is the RM 100 order the Shopee Lazada fee calculator starts from, with 8% service tax already on each line.
| Fee line | Shopee (RM) | Lazada (RM) |
|---|---|---|
| Commission | 10.26 | 12.96 |
| Transaction or payment fee | 3.78 | 2.16 |
| Free-shipping programme | 5.94 | Inside commission |
| Flat charge per order | 0.54 | 0.00 |
| Platform fees | 20.52 | 15.12 |
| In-platform ads, typical | 6.00 | 6.00 |
| Total cost of the sale | 26.52 | 21.12 |

Service tax is charged on the platform’s fees, not your product, at 8% since 1 March 2024, per the Royal Malaysian Customs service tax FAQ. Your commission also shifts with category, Mall status and seller age; our comparison of Shopee Mall and LazMall covers what an official store changes.
Key takeaway: Compare the two marketplaces on total ringgit deducted from the same order, never on commission alone.
3. Why do small orders keep so little?
Quick Answer: Percentage fees grow with the price, but the flat charge and the ad cost per order do not. Below roughly RM 80 a basket, those fixed costs decide your margin. Raising the basket size does more for you than any fee you are likely to negotiate.
Try three prices in the calculator on Shopee with typical ads and you will see the curve flatten.
- RM 25 order. You keep RM 13.46, or 53.8% before product cost.
- RM 100 order. You keep RM 73.48, or 73.5%.
- RM 500 order. You keep RM 393.56, or 78.7%.
A bundle that lifts the average basket helps every fee line at once. Ads are the line you control most: check Lazada Ads costs and judge spend by return on ad spend. Thinking of selling direct? Our guide on Shopee or your own website for sales runs that sum.
4. Conclusion: price for the whole stack
Quick Answer: Budget around a fifth of the order value for marketplace fees, add your category’s ad cost per order, then set your price on what is left. Run the Shopee Lazada fee calculator again each quarter, because rates change more often than your price list.
Strong organic listings also let you cut paid keywords safely; see Shopee and Lazada listing SEO. For the full picture across channels, ZenWeb can rebuild your fee stack from your own settlement reports.

1. How accurate is this Shopee and Lazada fee calculator?
It scales ZenWeb's mid-band model of a RM 100 order to your price, so treat it as an estimate. Type your own rate from Seller Centre for a closer figure.
2. Is service tax included in the fees?
Yes. Platform fees are taxable services at 8% since 1 March 2024, and the tax is charged on each fee line rather than on your product price. Every figure the calculator shows already includes it.
3. Why does Shopee come out dearer than Lazada?
Shopee charges a lower commission but bills the free-shipping programme and a flat per-order charge separately. Lazada carries much of the shipping subsidy inside one higher commission, so its total on the same order is lower.
4. Do new sellers pay commission straight away?
Both platforms run waiver periods for new local sellers. The waiver ends quietly, so note the date and reprice before it lapses.
5. Should I leave the free-shipping programme to save the fee?
Not shop-wide. Listings outside the programme are hidden from buyers who use the free-shipping filter, so the fee you save can cost more in lost orders. Test it on one bulky, low-margin category for a month first.
