Google Business Profile Checker: Score Your Listing Free

TL;DR: This Google Business Profile checker scores your listing out of 100 in seven questions. It weighs the signals you control: relevance, prominence, activity and your website. Then it lists the fixes that lift your score most, with how long each takes to show. Most clean fixes move rankings within four to twelve weeks.

3Which parts of the profile are filled in? Tick every one that's complete

5Do your name, address and phone match everywhere? Google, your website and directories
6How active is the profile?
7Does any of this apply to you? Tick any that are true, or leave all blank
How we calculate this

The score uses the relative weight of local ranking signals from our guide Google Business Profile not ranking? How to optimise it (ZenWeb client tracking across 12 industries, Malaysia, 2024–2026): profile relevance 34%, prominence 26%, distance 20%, behavioural signals 12% and website 8%. Distance is where the searcher stands, so you can't change it and we leave it out. Your score is the points you earn across the other 80, shown out of 100. Points inside each group, the 80 and 60 score bands and the 5-point deduction for each rule-breaking habit are our own checklist logic.

The fix order puts the biggest lost points first, and the “shows in” times are the same guide's typical time for each lever to move rankings. The posts check uses our guide Google Business posts not showing. This is a self-check to plan with, not a Google ranking. Google doesn't publish its exact weights.

Your profile is live, but the calls aren't coming. Usually two or three small gaps are stacked together: a broad category, stale reviews, a few blank fields. This Google Business Profile checker finds them from seven quick answers. Its weights and timelines come from our guide on why a Google Business Profile isn't ranking, built on ZenWeb local SEO audits of Malaysian SMEs.

5 Secrets to Optimize Your Google Business Profile in 2026

      1. How do you use the Google Business Profile checker?

Quick Answer: Open your Business Profile dashboard beside the checker and answer seven questions about status, category, filled-in fields, reviews, NAP details, activity and risky habits. The Google Business Profile checker updates your score as you click and puts the biggest lost points at the top of your fix list.

      1. Status first. A suspended or unverified profile can't rank at all, so the checker flags it before anything else.
      2. Category and fields measure relevance: how clearly Google knows what you do.
      3. Reviews and NAP measure prominence: how trusted and consistent you look across the web.
      4. Activity covers posts, new photos, Q&A and message replies.
      5. The last question catches habits that cost points or risk a suspension, such as keywords in the business name.

Most free tools scan your public listing and count filled fields. This Google Business Profile checker also asks what a scan can't see: whether your details match on your website and directories, how fast you reply, and habits like daily edits. It scores your answers, so be honest. If your profile is stuck at verification, sort that out with our guide to fixing a stuck Google Business verification first.

      2. What does your Google Business Profile score mean?

Quick Answer: The score shows how much of the ranking signal you control is working for you. Google ranks local results on relevance, distance and prominence. Distance is fixed, so the checker scores the rest out of 100. A score of 80 or more is strong, 60 to 79 needs work, and below 60 is weak.

Google confirms the three factors in its own help page on improving your local ranking. The weights below come from ZenWeb client tracking across 12 industries in Malaysia, 2024–2026.

The points inside each group and the score bands are our own checklist logic. Keywords in the business name and bought reviews each take 5 points off, because both risk a suspension or filtered reviews.

Key takeaway: Relevance and prominence carry most of the weight, and both are in your hands. A low score is a to-do list, not a verdict.

      3. Which gaps hold most Google Business Profiles back?

Quick Answer: An incomplete or thin profile is the most common gap, in 28% of the profiles we audit. A wrong or too-broad primary category follows at 22%, then too few or stale reviews at 19%. Strong nearby competitors are the only problem in just 7% of cases.

Main gap holding back audited profiles (ZenWeb client sample of 500+ Malaysian SME accounts, 2024–2026; many had more than one):

Key takeaway: Most profiles lose to their own blank fields and broad categories, not to rivals. The checker's main-gap line tells you which group you're in.

      4. How long do Google Business Profile fixes take to show?

Quick Answer: Completing the profile shows fastest, in one to three weeks, and a corrected category in two to four. Reviews take four to eight weeks and cleaning citations six to ten. Plan for four to twelve weeks overall, and stop editing while Google re-evaluates.

Typical time for each lever to move rankings, from ZenWeb operational data across Malaysian SME campaigns, 2024–2026:

      1. Complete the profile and fix details: 1–3 weeks.
      2. Correct the primary category: 2–4 weeks.
      3. Build steady review velocity: 4–8 weeks.
      4. Clean NAP and citations: 6–10 weeks.
      5. Ongoing posts, photos and Q&A: 4–12 weeks, compounding.

In our illustrative 90-day scenario, a service business moved from an average map pack position of 8.4 to 3.2, and calls from the profile rose from 18 to 54 a month. If your posts are the problem, our guide to Google Business posts not showing walks through each cause. If you were ranking and then slipped, follow the steps for a map pack ranking that dropped.

Key takeaway: Fix the quick relevance gaps first, then build reviews and citations. If twelve weeks pass with no movement, get a second pair of eyes.

      5. Frequently Asked Questions

      1. Is this Google Business Profile checker free?

Yes. It runs in your browser, needs no login and doesn't connect to your Google account. You answer the questions and it scores what you tell it.

      2. Why doesn't the checker score distance?

Distance is where the searcher stands, so no profile change moves it. The checker scores the 80% of the signal you can change and shows it out of 100.

      3. My score is high but I still don't rank. Why?

You may face stronger rivals nearby, the only problem in 7% of the profiles we audit. Check rankings from your real service area in an incognito window, and read our guide to local SEO in Malaysia for the website side.

      4. How often should I re-check my profile?

After each round of fixes, once each lever has had its typical time to show. Small, steady activity keeps a profile climbing, while editing it every day resets Google's re-evaluation clock.

      5. Does answering Q&A on my profile help?

Yes. Seeded and answered questions are part of the activity signal. Our guide to Google Business Profile Q&A shows which questions to seed.
