Domain and Hosting Cost Calculator: Yearly Price in Ringgit

TL;DR: This domain and hosting cost calculator turns your domains, hosting plan and email into one yearly ringgit figure, with 8% SST added. A .com runs RM45–70 a year, a .com.my RM60–100, and shared hosting RM10–60 a month. It shows the first year, the renewal year and a multi-year total, so the promo price never fools you.

    How we calculate this

Every price comes from our guide to domain and hosting prices in Malaysia. Domain bands are aggregated from published prices at MYNIC-accredited Malaysian registrars, June 2026. Hosting bands are aggregated from Malaysian hosts’ published prices, June 2026.

The first year uses each domain’s registration price and later years use its renewal price. Hosting is the monthly band times 12. We add 8% SST to domains, WHOIS privacy and hosting, which the price tables exclude. Email suite fees are shown as quoted. SSL is free from Let’s Encrypt.

The name check asks the official .com and .my registries in your browser. A free result is a good sign, not a guarantee, so confirm it at checkout. All figures are estimates to plan with, not a quote.

Domain and hosting look like small bills until you add them up: the promo is cheap, the renewal is not, and SST and email sit on top. 1. How do you use the domain and hosting cost calculator?

Quick Answer: Type your business name to see if it is free, then tick the domains you will keep, pick a hosting tier and choose how you run email. Set how many years to plan for. The domain and hosting cost calculator shows your first-year cost, the yearly renewal cost and the total as you go.

      1. Check your name. The tool asks the official .com and .my registries if it is taken.
      2. Tick your domains. Most businesses keep a .com and a .com.my.
      3. Pick a hosting tier. From basic shared hosting to a dedicated server, or domain only.
      4. Choose your email. Mailboxes in the hosting plan, or a paid suite with a user count.
      5. Set the years. One to ten, so you see what renewals add up to.

The starting setup, a .com and a .com.my on business shared hosting, comes to about RM437–961 in year one with SST, then RM470–972 a year as both domains renew higher.

Budgeting the whole website, not just the domain?

      2. How much does a domain cost in Malaysia per year?

Quick Answer: A .com costs RM45–70 to register and RM60–80 to renew each year. A .com.my costs RM60–100 and renews at RM75–100, with RM80 the standard MYNIC rate and RM60 for newly SSM-registered businesses. Promo extensions such as .my and .online start cheap but renew much higher.

These are the prices behind the calculator, before 8% SST:

Read the renewal column first: a RM5 promo domain that renews at RM120–180 costs more over five years than a plain .com. Weighing the two main options? See .com.my vs .com for Malaysian SMEs, and keep the name safe with our guide to what happens when a domain expires.

Key takeaway: Budget every domain at its renewal price. The calculator uses it for every year after the first.

      3. What does your yearly estimate include?

Quick Answer: The yearly figure adds your domains, optional WHOIS privacy, hosting times 12, 8% SST on those three, and business email. SSL shows as RM0 because free certificates are standard in 2026. The result also compares your five-year total with what Malaysian SME sites typically spend.

      • Hosting tier. Basic shared RM10–25 a month, business shared RM25–60, managed cloud or WordPress RM60–150, VPS RM80–250, and dedicated from RM400. New to the tiers? Read what web hosting is.
      • SST at 8%. Price lists usually leave it out. Our guide to SST on web hosting and domain names explains the rules.
      • WHOIS privacy. Free at some registrars, RM15–30 a year at others.
      • Business email. Basic mailboxes often come with hosting; Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 adds RM25–40 per user a month. See our business email hosting guide.

For context, ZenWeb-managed Malaysian SME sites spent about RM1,200–2,000 over five years for a basic brochure site, RM3,000–5,400 for a business site with email, and RM9,000–18,000 for an online store. Hosting, not the domain, drives those totals.

Key takeaway: If you want to cut the bill, look at the hosting tier first. Domain prices differ by tens of ringgit a year; hosting tiers differ by thousands.

      4. Frequently Asked Questions

      1. How accurate is this domain and hosting cost calculator?

It gives a planning range from June 2026 Malaysian price lists, not a quote. Promotions change, so check the checkout price before you pay.

      2. Is the name check final?

No. It shows whether the name is registered today. A looks-free result is a good sign, but confirm it at checkout.

      3. Why is my renewal higher than the first year?

Low first-year prices win customers; renewal is the real rate. The wholesale .com fee can also rise up to 7% a year through 2030, so renewing for several years locks today’s rate.

      4. Can I buy a domain without hosting?

Yes. Pick “Domain only”. Register the name now for RM45–80 a year and add hosting when the website is ready.

      5. Who should own the domain account?

You should, never your freelancer or agency. Our guide on who owns your website and domain explains why.
