A dealer in Kajang spends RM 5.80 for a click on “kawasaki z900 price malaysia”. The rider who typed it wants a picture and a price, has a class B licence he got last year, and is eighteen months away from buying anything.
This guide covers what a motorcycle click really costs in Malaysia, why the licence class splits your account in two, and what happens when a buyer’s hire purchase falls through. It also covers four data sets on click cost, wasted spend, ad copy and the dealer calendar.
ZenWeb is a Google Partner running Google Ads campaigns for 500+ Malaysian businesses. Dealer accounts fill up with enquiries fast and convert slowly, which makes them easy to misread.

Quick Answer: Malaysia splits motorcycle riders by licence class, and that split runs straight through your ad account. A class B2 rider is limited to 250cc and is buying transport. A class B rider can ride anything and is buying a hobby. Same search box, opposite budgets and opposite closing speeds.
The government sets the dividing line. Under Malaysia’s licence classes, class B2 covers motorcycles not exceeding 250cc, while class B carries no capacity limit. Nearly every first-time buyer in the country walks in holding B2.
That gives you three distinct campaign audiences, not one:
Those three want different pages, different bids and different opening lines. The wider channel picture sits in our digital marketing guide for motorcycle dealers, and the organic half is in our motorcycle dealer SEO guide.
Quick Answer: Between RM 1.20 and RM 5.80 a click. Malay instalment searches such as “ansuran ex5 sebulan” are the cheapest traffic and the cheapest delivered bike, at about RM 46 in media cost. Big bike model searches cost RM 5.80 a click and RM 993 per bike delivered.
| Keyword cluster | Avg CPC | Click to enquiry | Enquiry to delivered | Cost per delivered unit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Malay model plus instalment (“ansuran ex5 sebulan”) | RM 1.40 | 12.8% | 24% | RM 46 |
| Model plus township (“kedai motor ex5 rawang”) | RM 2.10 | 15.6% | 27% | RM 50 |
| Used stock (“motor second murah”) | RM 1.20 | 14.1% | 13% | RM 66 |
| Loan and approval (“loan motor tanpa slip gaji”) | RM 3.40 | 18.2% | 9% | RM 208 |
| Scooter comparison (“nmax vs aerox”) | RM 1.90 | 6.4% | 11% | RM 270 |
| Big bike model (“kawasaki z900 price malaysia”) | RM 5.80 | 7.3% | 8% | RM 993 |

Read the last column, not the first. RM 993 of media against a RM 60,000 big bike is a fine trade. RM 270 against a RM 9,000 scooter is not, and the comparison searches produce it, because “nmax vs aerox” is a reading task rather than a buying one. Cross-trade click prices sit in our breakdown of Google Ads CPC by industry in Malaysia.
Quick Answer: Car dealers advertise their stock through Google’s vehicle ads, which pull live inventory into a visual listing unit. Motorcycle dealers cannot. Google restricts the format to non-commercial passenger vehicles and excludes two-wheelers outright, so your stock has to earn its place through ordinary search ads and pages.
This is the single biggest structural difference between a car dealer’s account and yours. Google’s own policy states that vehicle ads may promote only non-commercial passenger vehicles such as cars or pickup trucks, with motorcycles and other two-wheelers not allowed.
So the advice written for car showrooms does not transfer. What replaces the missing format:
Because the page is doing the work a feed would do elsewhere, page quality matters more here than in almost any other trade. Our guide to Google Ads landing pages covers the fixes that move enquiry rate fastest.
Quick Answer: Only about four in every ten ringgit of an unmanaged dealer budget reaches somebody who wants to buy a bike. The rest goes to parts shoppers, workshop searches, road tax renewals and insurance claims — all of which look like motorcycle traffic and deliver almost nothing.
| Search-term type | Share of spend | Bikes delivered per 100 clicks |
|---|---|---|
| Buying intent (model, instalment, township) | 41% | 3.4 |
| Spare parts, accessories and modification | 19% | 0.2 |
| Servicing, repair and workshop searches | 13% | 0.1 |
| Licence, road tax and JPJ paperwork | 11% | 0.0 |
| Insurance renewal and claims | 9% | 0.1 |
| Outside the showroom’s delivery area | 7% | 0.6 |

Run on phrase and exact match until the conversion data is worth trusting, for the reasons set out in our guide to keyword match types. Google Ads for motorcycle dealers needs these blocked from day one:
Review the search terms weekly for the first two months using the routine in our walkthrough on building a negative keyword list. Parts and servicing traffic is worth keeping in a separate, tiny campaign if you run a workshop — just never in the same budget as the showroom.
Quick Answer: Almost nobody pays cash for a kapchai. The buyer is comparing monthly commitments, not sticker prices, so the searches that convert carry words like ansuran, bulanan, deposit and loan. A campaign built around model names alone misses the query the buyer actually types.
Watch how the same person searches across a fortnight. It usually runs: “ex5 harga”, then “ansuran ex5 sebulan”, then “deposit motor berapa”, then “kedai motor near me”. Only the last two are ready to walk in.
Three things follow from that:
Malay carries most of this traffic and costs less than the English equivalent. Write the ads in the language the search was typed in, and keep the two in separate ad groups so the reporting stays readable.
Quick Answer: A stated monthly instalment delivers a bike for RM 51 against RM 200 for a generic “murah, call now” ad. The approval angle wins the most enquiries in the table and one of the worst delivery rates, because it attracts buyers the finance company will decline.
| Lead message in the ad | CTR | Click to enquiry | Enquiry to delivered | Cost per delivered unit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| “Kedai Motor Murah, Call Now” | 3.6% | 8.2% | 14% | RM 200 |
| Monthly instalment stated (“Dari RM 189 sebulan”) | 6.1% | 17.4% | 26% | RM 51 |
| Model plus stock status (“Y15ZR ready stock, 3 warna”) | 4.2% | 12.6% | 31% | RM 59 |
| Deposit amount stated (“Deposit RM 500 sahaja”) | 5.4% | 16.1% | 23% | RM 62 |
| Approval angle (“blacklist boleh mohon”) | 7.2% | 21.3% | 11% | RM 98 |

The stock-status row is the quiet winner. It has the second-lowest click-through rate and the best delivery rate in the table, because “ready stock, 3 warna” answers the one question a decided buyer still has. That is the discipline behind Google Ads for motorcycle dealers: buy fewer clicks that close harder. The same logic across trades is in our notes on writing Google Ads copy that converts.

Quick Answer: A motorcycle sale is a hire purchase agreement, and a large share of enquiries die at the finance company rather than in your showroom. Advertising harder does not fix a declined application, so the deposit line in your ad matters more than the discount line.
Hire purchase in Malaysia is governed by the Hire-Purchase Act 1967 and administered by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living. Its guidance on what a hire purchase agreement must disclose — cash price, deposit, term charges and total payable is the same paperwork your customer signs at the counter.
What that means for the account:
Quick Answer: One used bike is one unit. Advertising it like a new model wastes money the moment it sells, and it usually sells within days. Used stock belongs in a broad “second hand motorcycle” campaign pointing at a live listing page, never in a per-unit ad group.
Used enquiries cost the least of any cluster and close at the worst rate, because the buyer is shopping across five shops and a marketplace app at once. Keep it simple:
Second-hand demand is heavily township-based, which makes the free listings work as hard as the paid ones — our guide to local SEO in Malaysia covers that groundwork.
Quick Answer: Malaysian bike demand peaks three times — the pre-Raya bonus weeks, the January school and work restart, and the December rush to register before the plate year changes. Clicks cost about 60% more in March than in July and still deliver the cheapest bike of the year.
| Month | Demand index | Avg CPC | Cost per delivered unit |
|---|---|---|---|
| January (school and work restart) | 108 | RM 2.60 | RM 58 |
| February (Chinese New Year promotions) | 100 | RM 2.40 | RM 63 |
| March (pre-Raya bonus buying) | 122 | RM 3.10 | RM 53 |
| April (Raya delivery rush) | 116 | RM 2.90 | RM 55 |
| May | 89 | RM 2.00 | RM 73 |
| June (school holidays, trade-ins) | 93 | RM 2.10 | RM 69 |
| July | 84 | RM 1.90 | RM 76 |
| August (Merdeka campaigns) | 91 | RM 2.10 | RM 71 |
| September (Malaysia Day promotions) | 94 | RM 2.20 | RM 67 |
| October | 88 | RM 2.00 | RM 74 |
| November (year-end clearance) | 102 | RM 2.40 | RM 62 |
| December (registration before the plate year changes) | 112 | RM 2.70 | RM 57 |

Most dealers spend evenly across twelve months and then wonder why July felt expensive. Lift the daily cap through the pre-Raya weeks and the December registration rush, and trim hard in July and October. The hour-of-day version of the same mistake is in our guide to ad schedules that waste budget.
Quick Answer: There is no checkout in a showroom. Count WhatsApp taps tagged by model page, calls over 60 seconds, and bikes actually registered. Without that third number, smart bidding learns to buy whoever messages most — which here is the buyer no finance company will approve.
The gap between enquiry and delivery is weeks long and runs through a third party. The minimum workable setup:
The mechanics are in our Google Ads conversion tracking setup guide, and the chat-specific gaps are covered in measuring WhatsApp enquiries properly. Buyers who visited and did not sign are worth chasing too — see Google Ads remarketing.
Quick Answer: Around RM 1,200 a month covers one showroom’s catchment and three or four model families, which works out at roughly 20 delivered units once the negatives are in place. Add budget by adding model families or a second branch, not by bidding harder on the same models.
Spend on Google Ads for motorcycle dealers follows floor stock and salespeople, because the real ceiling is how many enquiries your counter can answer the same day. A dealer carrying two brands and eight models on a RM 1,200 budget beats one claiming every bike sold in Malaysia on the same money. Budget floors and what happens below them are in our guide to the Google Ads minimum budget in Malaysia.
Quick Answer: Bidding on model names without instalment terms, letting parts and servicing searches share the showroom budget, mixing kapchai and big bike campaigns, hiding the deposit, and letting Performance Max run a small dealer budget unsupervised.
Roughly in order of what they cost:
The cross-industry version of this list is in our roundup of Google Ads mistakes that waste budget.
Quick Answer: Split the account by licence class, bid on instalment and township terms, negative out parts and paperwork, publish the deposit and monthly figure on every model page, and spend more in the pre-Raya and December weeks.
Google Ads for motorcycle dealers is unusual for two reasons: the format built for vehicle stock is closed to you, and the finance company decides half your outcomes. Both point the same way — toward fewer, better-qualified clicks landing on pages that answer the money question before anyone picks up a phone. Start with your three best-selling models and your own township, hold it through one full festive cycle, and let registered units teach the bidding what a real buyer looks like.
Clicks run from RM 1.20 on used stock searches to RM 5.80 on big bike model terms. A delivered bike costs about RM 46 in media from Malay instalment keywords and RM 993 from big bike keywords, on a starting budget of roughly RM 1,200 a month for one showroom.
No. Google’s vehicle ads format is limited to non-commercial passenger vehicles such as cars and pickup trucks, and two-wheelers are excluded. Motorcycle dealers advertise stock through search campaigns pointing at model pages instead, and can still use Shopping for helmets, tyres and accessories.
Only inside a separate campaign with its own budget cap. It produces the highest enquiry rate of any ad angle tested and one of the lowest delivery rates, because most of those applications are declined. Left in the main campaign it quietly consumes the model budgets.
In the pre-Raya bonus weeks, the January restart and the December rush to register before the plate year changes. Clicks cost around 60% more in March than in July, but intent is far stronger, and the media cost per delivered bike falls to about RM 53.
