Unbounce vs Leadpages: Which Landing Page Tool Wins?
TL;DR: On 2026 list prices, Leadpages wins the Unbounce vs Leadpages match-up for most Malaysian SMEs — it includes A/B testing and unlimited traffic on its entry plan, while Unbounce meters visitors and gates testing behind a higher tier. But both charge in US dollars, and below roughly RM 10,000 a month in ad spend, neither subscription pays for itself.

1. Introduction

Nearly every Unbounce vs Leadpages article settles the same way: Leadpages is the cheap one, Unbounce is the powerful one, pick on budget. That was fair in 2022. It is out of date in 2026, and it was never written for a business owner in Petaling Jaya paying a US-dollar subscription from a ringgit budget.

Both products were rebuilt. Leadpages now ships A/B testing on every plan and has dropped traffic caps. Unbounce still meters visitors and keeps testing on a higher tier. That flips the old conclusion, and it changes which tool belongs on the company card.

We build landing pages for Malaysian SMEs every week at ZenWeb, so we will settle Unbounce vs Leadpages the way we settle it for a client: real prices in ringgit, the traffic your ads actually send, and whether either subscription earns its keep. Still deciding if you need a separate page? Start with landing page vs website.

Before the numbers, here is a hands-on walkthrough of both editors.

2. What Are Unbounce and Leadpages in 2026?

Quick Answer: Both are hosted landing page builders — you drag a page together, publish it to their servers or your domain, and point ads at it. Unbounce leans towards agencies and high-traffic performance marketers. Leadpages, after its 2026 rebuild, leans towards small teams who want testing without a big subscription.

Unbounce vs Leadpages starts with knowing that neither product sits where it did two years ago:

  • Unbounce. The older, heavier platform. Drag-and-drop builder, popups and sticky bars, dynamic text replacement, and Smart Traffic — an AI feature that routes each visitor to the variant most likely to convert them. Plans run Starter, Build, Experiment and Optimize, each with a monthly visitor allowance.
  • Leadpages. Rebuilt in 2026 into two layers — a cheap publishing layer, and the conversion layer with A/B testing, heatmaps, lead enrichment and its own smart routing. Every paid Leadpages plan carries unlimited traffic.

Feature-for-feature, neither editor will be the reason your page fails. What separates them is how they charge you and what they gate. For the wider field, including the WordPress route, see our roundup of the best landing page builders for SMEs.

3. Unbounce vs Leadpages: The Real Cost in Ringgit

Quick Answer: The same US$99 a month buys either a capped Unbounce plan with no A/B testing, or a Leadpages plan with unlimited traffic and testing included. At roughly RM 4.10 to the dollar, that is about RM 406 a month — near RM 4,900 a year before your card’s FX fee.

Malaysian SMEs never pay the sticker price. Both tools bill in US dollars, so your real cost is the list price times the ringgit rate, plus your bank’s foreign transaction fee. The table converts both price lists at the July 2026 rate published by Bank Negara Malaysia — roughly RM 4.10 to the dollar.

Read the middle of that table twice. Both vendors run introductory discounts and annual-billing savings, so check live pricing before you commit — but the shape of the gap holds.

The same US$99 buys a metered Unbounce page without testing, or an unmetered Leadpages page with it.

Key takeaway: Compare the plans that actually include A/B testing, not the headline entry prices. On that basis Leadpages is cheaper by roughly RM 200 a month.

4. Traffic Caps: Do They Actually Bite Malaysian SMEs?

Quick Answer: For most Malaysian SMEs, no. Unbounce’s 20,000-visitor cap on its Build plan only bites once you spend above roughly RM 40,000 a month on ads. Below RM 10,000 a month, a typical campaign sends fewer than 6,000 visitors to the page — nowhere near the ceiling.

Traffic caps are the sharpest edge in the Unbounce vs Leadpages comparison, and Leadpages markets its uncapped plans hard. But an SME should ask a colder question: would I ever hit the cap? Here is what our client campaigns actually send to a landing page each month.

Two things follow. Under RM 20,000 a month in ad spend, an uncapped plan is a comfort feature, not a saving. Above that, or with seasonal spikes around Raya and year-end, the cap becomes an overage bill in the exact month your campaign is working.

One nuance the vendors do not advertise: caps count visitors, not ad clicks. Organic traffic, email clicks and WhatsApp returns count too, so a ranking page burns its allowance faster than the ad report suggests.

Key takeaway: Traffic caps are a real Unbounce weakness, but only above roughly RM 20,000 a month in ad spend. Below that, they are a tiebreaker, not a dealbreaker.

5. A/B Testing and Smart Traffic: Worth Paying For?

Quick Answer: Testing features only pay off if somebody runs the tests. In our client data, pages tested monthly convert at nearly double the rate of pages left alone after launch — and the hosted-builder advantage over a WordPress page is tiny next to that gap.

This is where the Unbounce vs Leadpages argument gets loudest and matters least. Both tools now offer manual A/B testing and AI routing that sends each visitor to their best-match variant. The feature list is not the problem. The habit is.

Conversion Rate by Testing Habit and Build Route

Never tested after launch4.14.0
Tested once, then left alone4.84.6
Tested monthly7.26.5
Tested weekly8.47.3

The vertical gap dwarfs the horizontal one. Going from never testing to testing monthly is worth about three percentage points of conversion rate. Swapping WordPress for a hosted builder, habit held constant, is worth well under one.

So the honest question is not “which builder tests better”, but “who will open the dashboard next month?” If you cannot name them, skip the testing tier. If you will test, our guide to A/B testing for marketers covers what to test first, and our roundup of A/B testing tools for small businesses covers cheaper standalone options.

Key takeaway: Testing habit beats tool choice by a wide margin. Pay for a testing tier only if a named person will actually run a test every month.

6. Does the Subscription Pay for Itself?

Quick Answer: A subscription pays for itself only when it lifts your conversion rate by at least the share of ad budget it eats. On a RM 5,000 monthly budget, Leadpages Grow needs an 8% lift to break even; Unbounce Optimize needs 20% — a bar few pages clear.

Here is the arithmetic nobody puts in an Unbounce vs Leadpages post. If a tool eats 8% of your ad budget, it has to make your page at least 8% better at converting — otherwise that money would have bought more leads as clicks.

The scenario below models a RM 5,000 monthly Google Ads budget at an RM 90 cost per lead, a common shape for a Malaysian services SME — roughly 55 leads a month before any tool is added.

Unbounce Optimize1,02120%11.3No, at this budget

A subscription is cheap against a big ad budget and expensive against a small one — an easy yes for an agency spending RM 50,000 a month, a poor buy for a bakery spending RM 2,000. Weigh it against what a landing page costs in Malaysia as a one-off build.

Key takeaway: Divide the monthly subscription by your monthly ad spend. Above roughly 10%, the tool works hard just to pay rent — and most pages never clear that bar.

7. Where the Page Lives Matters More Than the Editor

Quick Answer: Both tools publish to your own domain but host the page on their servers. That is fine for a paid campaign, and a poor home for a page you want ranking in Google — its authority sits outside your main site and disappears the day you cancel.

The question nobody asks in an Unbounce vs Leadpages debate is what happens to the page after the campaign ends. Three things decide that, and none of them involve the editor:

  • You are renting the page, not owning it. Cancel the subscription and the page goes offline. A page built into your WordPress site stays live at no extra cost.
  • Search authority does not compound. A hosted campaign page rarely earns rankings on its own. A page inside your site inherits everything the rest of the site has earned.
  • Speed is still on you. Both tools ship reasonably fast pages, but a heavy hero video blows past the 2.5-second Largest Contentful Paint threshold Google treats as good on either platform. No builder saves you from a 4 MB image.

So our default for a Malaysian SME is a page inside the site — usually on Elementor — with a hosted builder kept for short, testing-heavy campaigns. If your site already sits on a hosted platform, the maths shifts; our Wix review and our roundup of the best website builders cover that route.

Key takeaway: A hosted landing page is rented space. Use it for campaigns you expect to end, and keep the pages you want ranking inside your own website.

8. How to Choose Between Unbounce and Leadpages

Quick Answer: Work through five questions in order — budget ratio, testing habit, traffic volume, tracking stack, and who owns the page next year. Most Malaysian SMEs land on Leadpages. Agencies and high-traffic performance teams still find Unbounce worth its premium.

How to pick between Unbounce and Leadpages in under an hour

Five checks settle Unbounce vs Leadpages for most businesses. Run them in order — the first one with a clear answer usually decides it.

  1. Divide the plan cost by your ad spend. Above 10% and the tool is expensive rent. Under RM 5,000 a month in spend, build the page in WordPress instead.
  2. Name the person who will run tests. If you cannot name them, drop to the cheapest plan that publishes a page — you are not buying testing, you are buying a page.
  3. Estimate your monthly page visitors. Under 20,000 and Unbounce’s cap is irrelevant. Above it, or with seasonal spikes, Leadpages wins on price certainty.
  4. Check your tracking stack works. Confirm WhatsApp click events, the Meta Pixel and Google Ads conversion import all fire on the published page. Our guide to conversion tracking tools covers what to verify.
  5. Decide who owns the page next year. If it must outlast the campaign and live on your site, build it in WordPress and skip the subscription.

Still torn? Run both free trials on the same offer — Unbounce gives 14 days without a card, Leadpages 7 days with one. Build the same page in both and time yourself. The tool you finish faster in is the one you will keep using.

Key takeaway: Budget ratio and testing habit settle the Unbounce vs Leadpages question for most SMEs before any feature comparison is needed.

9. When a Malaysian SME Should Skip Both

Quick Answer: Skip both if you spend under RM 5,000 a month on ads, if the page must rank in search, or if nobody on the team will run a test. In those cases the same money buys a faster page inside your own website, with no recurring US-dollar bill.

We say this more often than either vendor would like. Unbounce vs Leadpages is the wrong question in three situations, because the answer to both is no:

  • One offer, one page, small budget. Build it once in WordPress. There is nothing to test between and nothing to route.
  • The page needs to rank. A hosted page carries none of your site’s authority. Put it in your site and let your SEO work for it — the same principle as our Semrush review, where the tool only earns its price once a strategy exists behind it.
  • The real problem is the offer. No builder fixes a weak offer. Our guide to diagnosing a landing page that is not converting and our checklist for landing pages that convert are the cheaper first move.

Malaysian buyers also expect to message, not fill forms. Whichever route you take, make sure the WhatsApp click fires a conversion event — otherwise Google and Meta never learn which clicks produced leads. Our roundup of WhatsApp marketing tools for Malaysia covers the setup, and our list of lead capture tools covers the alternatives.

Key takeaway: Below RM 5,000 a month in ad spend, the money does more work in the page and the offer than in a US-dollar subscription.

10. Conclusion: Which One Wins?

Quick Answer: Leadpages wins Unbounce vs Leadpages for most Malaysian SMEs in 2026 on price, included testing and unlimited traffic. Unbounce stays the stronger pick for agencies and teams running high-traffic campaigns at scale — and for many smaller businesses, neither is the right answer.

The old verdict has flipped. Leadpages is no longer the budget option with weaker testing; it includes testing at the entry tier and never charges for traffic. Unbounce still earns its premium for agencies juggling client accounts and heavy traffic.

But the number that decides Unbounce vs Leadpages is not on either pricing page. It is the ratio between the subscription and your ad budget, plus an honest answer on whether anyone will run a test next month.

11. Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is Leadpages cheaper than Unbounce in 2026?

On the plans that include A/B testing, yes. Leadpages Grow gives you testing and unlimited traffic at US$99 a month; the cheapest Unbounce plan with testing is Experiment at US$149, capped at 30,000 visitors. At roughly RM 4.10 to the dollar, that is about RM 200 a month in Leadpages’ favour.

2. Does Unbounce still charge for traffic?

Yes. Every Unbounce plan carries a monthly visitor allowance — 20,000 on Build, 30,000 on Experiment, 50,000 on Optimize — and going over triggers an overage charge. Leadpages has removed traffic caps from all its plans. Most Malaysian SMEs spending under RM 20,000 a month on ads will never reach either ceiling.

3. Can I use Unbounce or Leadpages with WordPress?

Both publish to a domain you control, so the page appears at your own address. The page still lives on their platform and goes offline if you cancel. If it must stay live and rank in search long-term, build it inside your WordPress site instead.

4. Which is better for Google Ads landing pages?

Either works once tracking is set up properly. Page speed, message match to the ad, and a conversion event on every action — including WhatsApp clicks — matter far more than the builder. A slow or mismatched page underperforms on both, and Google may flag it during ad review.

5. Do I need a landing page builder at all?

Not always. If you run one offer, spend under RM 5,000 a month on ads, and nobody will run monthly tests, a page inside your existing website does the same job with no subscription. Builders earn their price when you run several offers and test them regularly.
